SATS Paper

satspapers

For our Y6 children. A bank of all previous SATs papers for you to revise from for your upcoming tests in May. For further information about your SATS, please see our Assessments        section.

Please note, since the introduction of the new 'harder' papers, only the 2016 papers will give a true indication of what your child can expect this year. However, the other papers from previous years will certainly give a flavour of the types of questions and will get your child in the habit of how to answer SATs style questions. The website is free so please use as much as you see fit!

Times Tables Rockstars

Times Tables Rockstars is a fun, unique and inspiring way for children to learn their times tables.

When it comes to times tables, speed AND accuracy are important – the more facts your child remembers, the easier it is for them to do harder calculations.

Times Table Rock Stars is a fun and challenging programme designed to help students master the times tables!

To be a Times Table Rock Star you need to answer any multiplication fact up to 12×12 in less than 3 seconds!

The goal is for all participating rockers to be Times Table Rock Stars after 20 weeks!

Your child should already have their own username and password (please come and see one of us if not!). In order to access the site, please click on the picture above. For more information, and a free planning guide, please download the parent information pack below:

STAR Assessments

You may also find your child talking about STAR assessments when discussing Accelerated Reader with them. Star Assessments are short tests that provide teachers with learning data. STAR tests are computer adaptive, which means they adjust to each answer your child provides. This helps teachers get the best data to help your child in the shortest amount of testing time (about one-third of the time other tests take). For more information about the STAR reading process, please click here.

MethodMaths

methodmaths

MethodMaths is another website for our Year 6 children which allows you to practise for your upcoming SATs test online. The great thing is, it gives you instant analysis and feedback on any mistakes and lets us know at school, your areas for development. MethodMaths homework will be set during the Spring term and your children will soon receive a username and password to access this fantastic resource. The website can be accessed an unlimited number of times and is widely renounded for improving SATs scores throughout the country. We will also be discussing this at our upcoming SATs parents meeting in January.

Homework

Literacy and Numeracy homework will be handed out on Fridays and due back in the following Thursday. Spellings will be handed out weekly and the children will be tested on these the following week. A times tables or mental maths focus will also be set in addition to numeracy homework.  Everyone is expected to read their reading book at home at least four times a week.

Homework Diaries/Planners – Pupils will list all homework including spelling and mental maths learning. They also incorporate the READING RECORDS. Children are expected to read at least 4 times a week and have their reading record signed each time.

Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling

The introduction of the new National Curriculum requires school to provide a rich and varied grammar focus across all subject areas. At school, we recognise that some of the finer points of grammatical vocabulary may be challenging for some students and parents. Please find opposite many examples of free resources which you may find useful to print and use with your children.
