Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See?

Parents Information

Welcome back to the start of a new year and a very warm welcome to those families who are joining us for the first time this year. We hope that you all had a fantastic summer and are ready for all the exciting activities and experiences we have planned for you this half term.

As with every new school year our priority in the foundation stage is to help settle the children in to a new setting, meet new people, look after resources and follow routines preparing children for the exciting year ahead.

This half term our theme will be ‘What do you see’ based on the story Brown Bear Brown Bear. We have incorporated the story characters and ideas into our enhanced provision to allow the children to explore and develop their own play experiences within the theme.  These include a small world including all the story characters, a supermarket and café to explore objects and colour, and large and small construction areas ready to build new stories.  The children will also have lots of opportunities to play and explore with familiar equipment in the continuous provision the help make their transition to Nursery or full time as smoothly as possible.

Activities this half term will include hunting in our school and local environment and describing what we see, painting and drawing characters from the stories, adapting the story to including listening and matching different sounds and instruments and lots lots more
