Sports Premium 2016-17

HEATON AVENUE-69

Our Phenomenal Fitness Suite

As mentioned, our Fitness Suite is now fully operational and various Year groups have had the privilege of having a 'workout' in it. All child friendly, the suite has been specially designed to encompass children of all ages and abilities. Our equipment list at the moment currently consists of:

  • 2 x Spirit Club Series Treadmills
  • 2 x computerised WaterRowers
  • 1 x Spirit Upright Bike
  • 1 x FitnessMad standing punchbag
  • 1x Dunlop suspended punchbag
  • Jordan 3kg SlamBalls
  • Jordan SportsMats
  • Jordan Resistance bands

Our overall aim is to reduce childhood obesity by engaging children in activities which get their heart-rate soaring. Each year group has been allocated a session per week in the Fitness Suite and staff are in the process of being inducted into using the equipment in a safe and controlled way. As if this isn't enough, the space and the mirrors allow the equipment to be moved to create a dance studio. In it, we hope to offer high quality dance sessions and hope to extend our links with the community by offering Zumba to parents and children of our school. Watch this space!
